Teyana “Spike Tey” Taylor just won BET Awards 2023 hardware for Video Director of the Year.
Taylor wasn’t present at the ceremony, so the singer-slash-visual director’s mother Nikki Taylor accepted the award on her behalf. Nikki FaceTimed her daughter, who was in visible shock at her win. During the call, Taylor thanked her fans, family and friends for their support.
Other nominees in the category included A$AP Rocky, Benny Boom, Burna Boy, Cole Bennett, Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar and Director X.

Among Taylor’s directorial credits are Diddy and Bryson Tiller’s “Gotta Move On,” Queen Naija’s “Love Language.” Her own visuals include “Still,” “Lose Each Other,” and “Concrete.”
