Fetty Wap Faces Minimum Of Five Years In Prison For Federal Drug Charge
Fetty Wap will be sentenced to at least five years in prison for pleading guilty to a federal drug charge, according to TMZ.
BET.com reported on the story late last year when the New Jersey native was arrested at Citi Field on October 28 after an indictment alleged he was part of a nationwide drug trafficking ring. Prosecutors described Wap as a “kilogram-level redistributor” for a drug ring that moved more than 100 kilos of cocaine, heroin, crack, and fentanyl.
According to a rep for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, the “Trap Queen” rapper faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison. Officials are estimating he’ll serve anywhere between 87-108 months but can’t get less than 5 years minimum with two of his co-defendants, Robert Leonardi and Anthony Cyntje, pleading guilty to the same count, in addition to firearms charges.
The rapper pled guilty to one count of intent to distribute controlled substances including cocaine, heroin and fentanyl.
He is currently in custody.
