In a departure from most of his romantic and dramatic film and TV work, Michael Ealy is getting into sci-fi action business by starring in Underworld: Awakening, the fourth installment of the popular supernatural franchise which hits theaters January 20.

The film chronicles the all-out war between t two immortal species the Vampires and the Lycans (the werewolves). And we’re sure whichever team Ealy’s playing for his charismatic presence will chew all the scenery. Kate Beckinsale reprises her role in the film series as Selene.

And there’ll be plenty of Ealy to toast in this New Year of 2012. He currently stars in the TV series Common Law.  In addition, he returns to romantic comedies in the highly anticipated Think Like a Man, which also stars Morris Chestnut, Gabrielle Union, Taraji P. Henson and arrives in theaters this March.

Earlier in the week, we caught up with Ealy as he dished on vampires, on screen kisses and more.  In the video above, the blue-eyed actors exclusively talks all things Underworld: Awakening.
