Klay Thompson Wants To Win An Oscar For His Role In ‘Space Jam 2’
The Golden State Warriors held media day on Monday (September 30th) and Klay Thompson spoke with NBC Sports’ “Warriors Outsiders” about his summer and filming Space Jam 2.
Thompson said he had to shave his beard during filming, but is happy it’s back and he wants to win an Oscar for his supporting role.
Not sure "Best Supporting Actor Animated Series" is a thing. But there are tons of awards shows. Maybe he could start a campaign for one of those?
The 91st Academy Awards take place on February 9th, 2020.
While Thompson was clearly joking, an athlete winning an Oscar is not out of the realm of possibility. Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant won one in 2018 for his animated short “Dear Basketball.”
All jokes aside, the timing wouldn’t line up for an Oscars campaign this season. The movie isn’t set to release until until summer 2021.
Still, good to see Klay is having fun despite rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered in June during the NBA Finals.
Thompson is expected to be out at least until the All-Star break, so the Warriors will have to manage without one of their “Splash Brothers.”
