    Yolanda also collaborated with the production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who assisted her on Mountain High...Valley Low's ethereal “Open My Heart,” “Wherever You Are” and the album's closing record “Already Alright,” all of which were co-written with Yolanda.

    1991’s Through the Storm and 1993’s Save the World won several Stellar awards, gospel’s highest accolade. But it was in 1995 with More Than a Melody that she was propelled into the world of R&B gospel, with hit singles such as “Gotta Have Love” and “Open Arms,” earning her a Soul Train Lady of Soul award, a Grammy nomination and an unforgettable live performance spot on the 1996 Soul Train Music Awards.

    Adams's release of Mountain High...Valley Low in 1999 on Elektra Records went 2x Platinum in 2000 and won her a Grammy Award. Her singles "Yeah," "Fragile Heart" and "Open My Heart" scored major play.

    Her album Believe, which included the hit "Never Give Up," reached gold status. She would later go on to perform this song at The Salute to Gospel Music at the White House during President George W. Bush's administration.

    After almost four years without releasing an album, Yolanda returned in 2005 with Day by Day, which ended up charting higher than Mountain High...Valley Low on the Billboard 100 and Billboard R&B Albums chart.

    Her single "Victory" from the album was also prominently featured in the movie The Gospel.

    Yolanda Adams performed at the 2011 BET Honors to tribute Cicely Tyson.

    Later, Adams appeared at the 53rd Grammy Awards to pay tribute to Aretha Franklin, along with Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine and Martina McBride.

    That same year, Yolanda sang at the prestigious National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, D.C., to honor the U.S. soldiers.
