Miguel A. Núñez Jr. Says ‘Juwanna Mann’ Sequel is in the Works

The actor is confident all will embrace the new film.

A sequel to the 2002 romantic comedy-drama Juwanna Mann, famously starring Miguel A. Núñez, is reportedly in the works.

According to Núñez, who spoke with TMZ reporters about the possibility of reviving the classic film, despite many of the changes made in today’s society, not only is a reboot possible, Núñez said, “We are going to do it.”

The Sparks star said while he couldn’t give out the plot details just yet, he agreed that creating a sequel to Jesse Vaughan-directed movie was “complicated” for many reasons, including his character essentially being “exposed.”

Núñez was also “absolutely” confident that members of the LGBTQ community and WNBA players would embrace the upcoming project. “They did the first one; they will definitely do [it] with this one,” he added.

Viewers can expect Núñez in the new film but don’t expect him to hit the court as he did in the previous film. He also said there would be several cameos from WNBA players and even claims Golden State Warrior star Draymond Green wants to be involved.

As some may remember, Juwanna Mann follows a disgraced basketball star, Jamal Jeffries, who whips up a plan to play professional basketball again–even if it’s for the women’s league– after being dropped from his men’s team. It’s not long before he becomes a star player, but his problems soon begin when he falls hard for the team captain played by Vivica A. Fox.

The film also starred Kevin Pollak, Tommy Davidson, Kim Wayans, Ginuwine, and Kimberly “Lil Kim” Jones.
