Texas Mom Fatally Shot While Visiting Late Son's Gravesite On His Birthday
Police on Thursday (March 24) identified the woman who was fatally shot two days earlier at a Killeen, Texas cemetery. She was tragically gunned down while visiting her son’s gravesite on what would have been his 22nd birthday.
In a statement, the Killeen Police Department identified her as Yolanda N’Gaojia after notifying the family. Shortly after 5 p.m. on March 22, officers responded to reports of gunfire at the Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories Cemetery in the 13000 block of State Highway 195.
They discovered two shooting victims. N’Gaojia, 52, died from her injuries. But the second victim was treated and released at the scene. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson ordered an autopsy of N’Gaojia.
Local station KWTX reported seeing a late-model Chevrolet Camaro with bullet holes at the scene taped off with yellow police tape.
“We want to let the community know that this was an isolated incident and there is no continued threat to the general public,” the police statement said.
