LeBron James Criticized For Tweet Supporting Deshaun Watson
A brief tweet from LeBron James praising Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who was accused of sexual misconduct last year, has gotten him some criticism.
“Yessir D Watson!! Another one. That boy getting his rhythm back!” James tweeted on Jan. 1.
One person tweeted, “Thought he was hacked for a second no way this is real.” Another added, ”You can still delete this.”
One user wrote, “Supporting Watson is no message you should be sending to the young kids out there. What's next you will tweet about R Kelly?”
After more than two dozen lawsuits involving multiple women accusing him of sexual misconduct during massage sessions while he was playing for the Texans, Watson was suspended for eleven games. In August, he told CBS Sports, "I'm truly sorry to all the women that I've impacted in this situation. My decisions that I made in my life that put me in this position, I would definitely like to have back. I want to continue to move forward and grow and learn and show that I am a true person of character. I want to keep pushing forward."
Watson returned to the football field early last month.
