Watch: An Update On The Grandma Who Accidentally Invited Teen to Thanksgiving Dinner

Here's what happened when he actually showed up.

We all can relate to mistakenly receiving random texts from numbers we don't recognize. However, after a "new phone, who this?" type of text, or even a courtesy that the person has the wrong number, the interaction usually ends there.

This past week, we reported on a grandma in Arizona who reached out to who she thought was her 24-year-old grandson to discuss their Thanksgiving plans but was using the wrong number. Instead, Wanda Dench accidentally texted teenager Jamal Hinton, who happened to have been re-assigned her real grandson's old digits.

As the two went back and forth realizing that they didn't in fact know one other, Hilton decided to jokingly ask if he could come to Thanksgiving dinner anyway, saying, " You not my grandma! Can I still get a plate tho?"

Much to his surprise, Dench responded by extending an invite and later keeping her word, with the two meeting in person for the first time over a festive meal on Thanksgiving.

The incredible story, thanks to Twitter, has since gone viral, with the screengrabbed text conversation being retweeted over 200K times. Naturally, the Internet had a field day when they learned the grandma actually followed through on her promise, making this the next hilarious and heartwarming installment of #WeStillComin.

"It was so unexpected, but she was just so sweet about it," Hinton shared with People. "It was a reminder that there are still some good people left in this world."

The high school student later added that the unlikely friends enjoyed spending Thanksgiving together and will likely keep in touch once their viral fame dies down.

Watch the unlikely friends talk about their newfound friendship in the video clip below.
