An eyewitness told TMZ that the two exes were spotted in a back room chatting during a small private event at the new Yetunde Price Resource Center in Compton on Friday night. (The center is named after Serena and Venus's older sister who was murdered in September 2003).

The source adds that the tennis legend and rapper avoided taking pictures together but did separately pose for photos with Compton mayor Aja Brown.

The celebrity website adds that they also left in separate cars following the event.

So, is this enough for speculation to run wild that the two exes, who dated for at least a year before splitting in 2010, are trying to rekindle their romance?

Well, a source close to both Serena and Common insists that they're just friends, yet the eyewitness at Friday's event said they looked like more than just friends.

This speculation comes after Serena and Formula 1 race car driver Lewis Hamilton were seen cozying up to each other at a Halloween party, sparking rumors of the two dating.
