Lizzo And SZA Unite For New ‘Special’ Remix
Less than a week after Lizzo left the 65th Annual Grammy Awards with two trophies, including one for “Best Record” for “About Damn Time”, she’s making a new release with friend and co-hort SZA.
On Thursday (February 9), the singer and flutist updated the version of her latest album’s title track, featuring a new opening verse from the TDE songstress.
“Woke up this morning to somebody judging me / No surprise they judging me / Don’t know who I’m ‘sposed to be / I’m just actin’ up, I’m brash as f**k,” she sings on the new song before joining Lizzo in the chorus. “Never saying sorry / Found out in the end that I can only do it for me.”

The new collaboration comes after Lizzo hinted back in November that “something special” was “coming your way soon” in a tweet she made, tagging SZA. It also featured a snippet of the “Special” remix playing in an attached video.
The duo’s last musical coming together was also featured in Lizzo’s Live in Concert HBO Max special, during which they performed the track onstage in November 2022 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
