Viola Davis and Idris Elba Top 2012 Golden Globe Nominees

Viola Davis and Idris Elba top 2012 Golden Globe nominees. Mary J. Blige and The Help also get nods for Hollywood’s second biggest night.

 

Award season is now officially in full swing with the announcement of the 2012 Golden Globe nominations and actors Viola Davis, Idris Elba and singer Mary J. Blige are leading the pack.

 

Davis picked up a nomination for Best Drama Performance by an Actress in Motion Picture for her role as Aibileen Clark in The Help. Elba received a Best Performance By an Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie nod for the title role in the BBC drama Luther.

 

Blige earned a Best Original Song nomination for the single "The Living Proof," from the The Help soundtrack, a song she also co-wrote. And finally The Help, which also starred Octavia Spencer, received a total of five nominations including one for Best Dramatic Picture.
