  • Hip Hop Is Officially 50

    August 11 marked a momentous occasion in music history as we celebrated the 50th anniversary of hip hop. On August 11, 1973, DJ Kool Herc's mixing at his baby sister's back-to-school party ignited a cultural revolution that would reshape music as we know it. As we commemorate this milestone, we honor the pioneers, artists, and communities that have propelled hip-hop into a global phenomenon. Happy 50th birthday to hip hop!

    Janelle Monáe’s pleasure is definitely being felt all across the country. Due to high demand, Monáe has added more dates to her "Age of Pleasure" Tour, which include Indianapolis, Indiana (September 10), Columbus, Ohio (September 15), and New Orleans, Louisiana (October 7).   • Serena William’s Daughter’s Favorite Doll Gets A Dance Show

    Are the toddlers in your life trying to learn the latest dance moves? Well, Qai Qai has got you covered. The animated YouTube series "Qai Qai," just got a new spin-off. “Dance with Qai Qai” inspired by Serena Williams’ daughter Olympia’s favorite doll, dropped this week and will teach her loyal followers how to shake their groove thing.

  • Ciara Is Pregnant With Baby Number 4

    Ciara and her husband Russell Wilson are expecting! On August 7, Ciara broke the news on Instagram. In a black-and-white video, the R&B songstress dances around a pool while showing off a glorious baby bump. "You look at me like that again; we make another kid...You my heart, I’m your rib,” she captioned the post. This is the fourth child for Ciara, who shares 3-year-old son Win and daughter Sienna Princess, 6, with Wilson. She is also mom to son Future Zahir, 9, whom she shares with rapper Future. Congrats to Ciara and Russell!

  • Lori Harvey Drops Swimwear Line

    Lori Harvey is following in her father’s footsteps and becoming an entrepreneur. She launched a swimwear line called Yevrah, which is her last name spelled backward. Harvey told US Weekly, “For my first collection, I wanted to release staple pieces in chic colors that can be worn anywhere, any season, and will never go out of style.” The line is exclusively available at Revolve.

  • SZA, Nicki Minaj And Ice Spice Get MTV VMA Nominations

    The MTV VMA nominations are in! While Taylor Swift received the most nominations (eight to be exact), SZA was right behind her with six nominations, including Video of the Year and Song of the Year for “Kill Bill.” Nicki Minaj scored five nominations, with “Super Freaky Girl” earning a Video of the Year nod. Ice Spice, who has had a massive 2023, received two, and she is up for Best New Artist.   • Black Women Celebrated On Forbes’ 2023 ’50 Over 50′ List

    This week, Forbes released their “50 Over 50" list, which showcases powerful women–and over half of the women are Black women. The list includes environmental justice advocate Catherine Coleman Flowers, Viola Davis, Claudine Gay, named Harvard University president last month, Mae Jemison, the first Black woman to travel to space in 1992, the legendary Miss Patti LaBelle, and many more.
