'Tyler Perry's Sistas:' A Breakup Playlist Inspired by Jordan
Fans of "Tyler Perry's Sistas," know that Jordan is down bad. Gary forced Andi to break up with him and, instead, marry him to save Jordan’s life. Andi did what she was told, and Jordan obviously doesn’t know what’s really behind her decision to let him go, but he’s hurting. He doesn’t want to do much of anything besides sit on the couch and watch TV, and he goes back and forth between feeling like it’s time to move on to hatred for Andi to wanting to get her back. It’s the usual motions people go through after a breakup. This playlist is dedicated to Jordan’s pain.
“I Wish I Never Met Her” - Carl Thomas
It was love at first sight between Jordan and Andi, so he’s having difficulty accepting that it’s over, at least for now. We’d love to see them get back together once Gary’s out of the way, but for now, Jordan wishes he had never met Andi at all but still loves her.
“Heartbreak Hotel” - Whitney Houston, Kelly Price and Faith Evans
Jordan turned his home into a heartbreak hotel, and it took his boys coming over to try to motivate him to put the ice cream down, peel himself off the couch, and come back to life.
“Kill Bill” - SZA
This song is a bit demented, but “Tyler Perry’s Sistas' is such an extreme and unpredictable show that you never know what’s going to happen. Who’s to say that Jordan won’t snap and try to strangle Andi on some, if he can’t have her no one can type stuff.
“Don’t Leave Me” - Blackstreet
Not so deep down, Jordan wants to take to the streets, probably in the rain, and beg for his girl back 90s R&B style.
“The Worst” - Jhene Aiko
When the breakup is fresh, sometimes you need them and sometimes you don’t all at the same time.
“Smokin Out the Window” - Silk Sonic
The angst and regret have our boy stressed. The good news for Jordan is that at least he wasn’t paying her rent. She just didn’t move out of the condo Gary bought her.
“In the Rain” - Dramatics
Is a breakup really a breakup without rain references?
“IDFWU” - Big Sean
There’s also the rage part of breaking up. First, you’re sad, and then you rage, especially given Jordan's circumstances.
“Marvin’s Room” - Drake
Jordan can’t accept that she left him for Gary, of all people. He’s definitely thinking about calling her and trying to convince her that he’s much better. It’s not like Gary is actually a good guy.
“Just a Friend” - Biz Markie
The abrupt breakup makes Jordan wonder if she and Gary have had a thing on the side the whole time they have been in a relationship.
“IFHY” - Tyler The Creator
The initials are self-explanatory, but in case it needs to be spelled out, it’s “I F-ing hate you” because sometimes a breakup goes that way when it's new.
