Charles Fuller wins Pulitzer Prize for his work, "A Soldier’s Play."
Playwright Charles Fuller won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for A Soldier’s Play, a story of a Black captain’s search for the murderer of a Black sergeant on a Louisiana army base during World War II. The story would later be turned into a film, 1984’s A Soldier’s Story, which was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Writers Guild of America Award.
