After three years of working and reworking the project, Game’s oft-delayed fourth studio album, The R.E.D. Album, finally hit store shelves yesterday (August 23).
“It feels good,” Game told BET.com. “It doesn’t feel like it’s been long to me.... I missed it a little bit but you know what the thing was, I found...for years I was trying to find the balance. If I was being a great father, then I was lacking as far as my presence in hip hop. And then if I was doing hip hop I felt like I was selling my kids short, so I finally found the balance and really worked it out.”
The project, which was originally supposed to be an unexpected follow-up to Game's LAX album (2007) which the Compton rapper once said would be his last, was pushed back more than 10 times. However, don't call it a comeback, Game says he expects The R.E.D. Album to meet the expectations of his last projects.
“This ain’t no comeback album, this The R.E.D. Album,” said Game. “And you could say that numbers don’t matter as much as you want but at the end of the day they do matter. The climate has changed. Back when I was coming in 500,000 was standard. These days going platinum is something that Jay, Kanye, Wayne and Drake do...you gotta be a super super artist to go platinum. R.E.D. shouldn’t fall short.... I got a core fan base that are going to go out and purchase and buy the album and really support me no matter what I try, or when."
Although it’s still a little premature for a promotional push, Game is already focused on his next project beyond The R.E.D. Album. Producer Mars recently told MTV.com that he’s in the studio with Game working on the follow-up toThe R.E.D. album.
“Me and Game was in the studio yesterday,” Mars told MTV.com. "We did two songs. That’s coming along crazy. We’re going to have no features: It’s just him rapping. No name dropping, no little things people say is cliche about Game. It’s just putting on the boxing gloves and going for what we know.”
Although he wouldn't divulge any details, Game confirmed with BET.com that this was true. “Yeah, there’s an album coming. I stay working these days,” said Game. “I’m working on the next 12 albums right now.”

In the meantime, The R.E.D. Album is available today and features guest appearances from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Drake, Rick Ross, Beanie Siegel, Young Jeezy, Big Boi, E-40, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler The Creator and more.
