Regina King Transforms Into Shirley Chisholm in New Netflix Trailer
Regina King's portrayal of Shirley Chisholm in the Netflix movie "SHIRLEY" has been highly anticipated. And on Tuesday (Jan. 9), Netflix debuted the first trailer, which unveiled King's transformation into the woman who changed the face of politics.
The film, directed and written by John Ridley, presents the compelling story of Shirley Chisholm, the pioneering political figure who shattered barriers as the first Black Congresswoman and made history with her groundbreaking 1972 presidential campaign.
Although the trailer is just under a minute long, King's performance as Chisholm is remarkable, capturing the essence of Chisholm's unwavering determination, boldness, and trailblazing spirit.
The film will highlight Chisholm's historic presidential run and delve into her journey as a fearless advocate for social justice and equality. The supporting cast includes other heavy hitters like the late Lance Reddick, Lucas Hedges, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christina Jackson, Michael Cherrie, Dorian Crossmond Missick, Amirah Vann, W. Earl Brown, Brad James, Reina King, André Holland and Terrence Howard.
