Gun violence claimed the life of Chief Keef's second cousin rapper Big Glo Wednesday night (April 9), the Chicago Tribune reports.

The 33-year-old, born Mario Hess, also rapped under the name Blood Money. He was shot up to 10 times and pronounced dead at John H. Stoger Jr. Hospital, police said. 

Two men opened fire around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Englewood area of Chicago. Authorities found Glo's body near a Cadillac Escalade at a location bordered by four empty parking lots. Weather conditions in the Windy City initially made it hard for police to keep track of the more than two dozen shell casings dumped at the scene. No arrests have been made. 

A second victim, a 28-year-old man, was shot and transported to a local hospital in serious condition. It is unclear if he is affiliated with Glo.

Manger Renaldo Reuben told the Tribune that he had been trying to get Glo out of the violent neighborhood. "It's a lot of crime and violence in Chicago, these rap guys are being targeted, so you know, [I was] just trying to get him outside the neighborhood. He's from the streets," Reuben explained. 

Before he was killed Ruben had a premonition that Glo should "move out of Chicago." The rapper, who is featured on Keef's "F--- Rehab" track, signed a record deal, which would've helped get him "out of the hood," according to Ruben. "He was basically trying to get his rap career together because that's a good opportunity," he said. 

Glo had an extensive criminal record and appeared in court on more than 36 separate charges over the years. In 2002, he was busted for manufacturing and dispersing cocaine, and sentenced to a year in jail, with credit for time served. 

Five years later, he pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was slapped with a two-year sentence and given more credit for time serviced. 

In 2008, 2009 and April 2013, Glo was charged with three separate possession charges, for holding between 30-500 grams of marijuana. 

His death comes less than two weeks after Chicago rap newcomer Lil Marc was shot and killed at a bus stop, and about a month since a non-fatal shooting at the home of Keef's manager. 

Keef, 18, hasn't commented on Glo's death, but the "I Don't Like" rapper is no stranger to losing family members. His estranged step-brother, 19-year-old Ulysses "Chris" Gissendanner III, was shot and killed last January.
