"He gets it, he really does," Eminem says of Kendrick Lamar and his feature on "Love Games" from Em's The Marshall Mather's LP 2. Lamar is the only other rapper on the release, and for good reason, the Detroit MC told BBC Radio's Zane Lowe. 

Em sat down for an extensive four-part interview with Lowe and, in the latest of the video clips, reveals MMLP2 came together "last minute," and it wasn't until late in the recording process that he realized something was missing. "I kinda sat back like f--k man," he said, "I got no rappers on this s--t!"

He then explained that he picked Lamar out of both convenience (they're label mates) and talent. "Kendrick, as incredible as he is, he's also on the same label. He's in our camp. It only made sense."

So he commissioned Lamar to record at his studio in Detroit, but "To this day I'm not sure if he understood that I always wanted him to rap on it, because he laid two hooks and then he kind of looked like, 'Is that it?'"

Sensing that the TDE rapper wasn't going to offer first, Em extended the invite for K. Dot to drop a verse. "I can't remember exactly what I said, something like, 'Yo, so you wanna lay a verse?' ... I think he looked surprised, I think that he was just not sure. It was getting late, I ended up going home, he laid something," and eventually, "... I told him he killed it."

Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin produced the beat. "What was interesting about that beat to me," Em continued, "and one of the reasons that I wanted to hear Kendrick on it, is because the style that the beat was in … the feel of that record is so different from what maybe a lot of people would expect us to do."

Elsewhere in the interview, Em talks urinating on the floor, still feeling the need to impress Dr. Dre and "Headlights," the emotional track where he apologizes to his mother Debbie Marshall, rhyming, "I went in headfirst, never thinking about who what I said hurt/In what verse, my mom probably got it the worst."

His MMLP2, released earlier this month (Nov. 5), and in addition to media rounds, he was most recently "spotted" shooting a video with Rihanna for their single "The Monster," the latest of the four he's so far unleashed.
