Comedian Sasheer Zamata Playfully Labels Herself a ‘Late-in-Life Lesbian’ in Coming Out Announcement

The SNL Alum is set to star in the upcoming ‘Agatha All Along.’

Actress and comedian Sasheer Zamata is embracing all the qualities that make her unique.

In a new interview with Them, the “Saturday Night Live” alum jokingly declared herself “one of those late-in-life lesbians” as she came out as gay.

The Okinawa, Japan-born star revealed that she’d often get cast in queer roles well “before I, myself, was figuring out my identity.”

"I was like, 'Whoa, what are these casting directors seeing that I'm not seeing?'" she added.

The "Home Economics" star expressed that she feels "very comfortable and confident in my life." Still, she felt compelled to publicly embrace her identity, partly to prevent "being silenced."

"It felt like if I didn't say anything, I'd be ignoring a part of me, and that doesn't feel very good," she continued. "I've definitely had thoughts of, not necessarily keeping it a secret, but [that] there's no need to say anything about it."

Zamata is set to appear with Kathryn Hahn in “Agatha All Along,” coming to Disney+ on September 18. In her interview with Them, she shared that it felt "nice to be able to portray a character who has been an outcast for a lot of her life."
