Mike Tyson Says He’s ‘Scared To Death’ Of His Upcoming Fight With Jake Paul

The former heavyweight champion is set to take on the popular YouTuber on July 20 on Netflix.

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson said that he’s “scared to death” in his forthcoming fight with Jake Paul, CBS News reports.

During an appearance on “Hannity,” Tyson shared his emotional state with Sean Hannity in anticipation of the bout.

“Anything I'm afraid of, I confront it," Tyson said." And that's my personality. Like right now, I'm scared to death. But as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it's reality. And in reality, I'm invincible."

At 57 years old, Tyson still trains every day and believes that his speed will be a deciding factor in the fight. He also admitted that Paul has developed as a boxer since he first entered the sport in 2020.

"This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you will not see any of the laws that we're fighting under. This is a fight. I don't think he's faster than me. I've seen a YouTube [video] of him at 16 doing weird dances. That's not the guy I'm going to be fighting," Tyson explained.

Mike Tyson Will Take On Jake Paul in a Fight On Netflix

"This guy is going to come and try to hurt me, which I'm accustomed to. And he's going to be greatly mistaken."

In March, the fight between Tyson and Paul was first announced and it shook up the boxing world. At the announcement of the bout, Tyson expressed supreme confidence that he would soundly defeat Paul.

"[Paul has] grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a 'kid' can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT," Tyson said in a statement at the time. "It's a full-circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch, as I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones, and now I plan to finish him."

Airing live on Netflix, the fight will take place on July 20 at the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which is the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
