BET Awards 20’: 3 Hilariously Unintentional Show-Stealing Moments
The accolades and performances are a undoubtedly big part of the BET Awards. But the moments that some of us have walked away with are memories of are the funny moments nobody expected to catch on camera. Intentional or not, it’s these moments that brought us closer through laughter. We’re looking back to a handful of off-stage moments that stole the show. Be sure to tune in for the 2020 BET Awards on June 28 at 8 PM EST.
When We All Found Out Offset Used To Be A Backup Dancer For Whitney Houston
In one of the 2019 BET Awards most-watched moments, Offset and Cardi hit the stage with a fiery mashup of their chart-topping hits “Press” and “Clout.” Offset blew everyone’s mind when he kicked the set off by busting out some of his best moves. M
atching his backup dancers step for step, the “Father of 4” rapper cleanly pop locked before following up with some two-stepping body rolls that made viewers' jaws drop. His name immediately trended on Twitter which led to many discovering that the trap star used to be a backup dancer for the late Whitney Houston before popping off with the Migos. The numbers of views for their joint performance, a staggering 34 million, more than speaks for itself.
That Time Lil Mama Didn’t Know Who Anita Baker Was
At the 2018 BET Awards, R&B and blues legend Anita Baker was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award along with tributes from Ledisi, Yolanda Adams, and Jamie Foxx. But it’s her post-show interview with Charlamagne and Tami Roman that left us on the floor. During their conversation, Charla asked the R&B legend if she had a favorite rapper. It prompted Baker to recall running into “a young lady who’s a veteran rapper in the business” at her hotel ahead of the show, except this woman didn’t recognize Baker at the time.
To be fair, Baker clarified that she was wearing a hat which is why she may have been unrecognizable. She ran into the woman again later on, who recognized her that time. “She was like ‘Oh my god,’” Baker recollected before revealing that woman was Lil Mama.
A Man Hilariously Stole The Show While Migos Was Performing At The 2017 BET Awards
Fresh off their win for Best Rap Group at the 2017 BET Awards, the Migos transformed the stage into a Winter Wonderland for their performance of “T-Shirt.” Offset, Quavo, Takeoff turned the heat up when the trio transitioned into their four-time platinum smash hit, “Bad and Boujee.” The crowd went into a frenzy.
But it was one audience member in particular that stole the show straight from the audience. When the camera panned over the audience, the man matched Migos' lit energy with his own set of moves from his seat. At one point, he even busted out a wave-bending dance move that left viewers watching at home doubled over on the floor.
