Ledisi’s 'Anything For You' Comes As A Timely Reminder That Love Conquers All
After nearly three years, R&B soulstress Ledisi has returned with her latest single, “Anything For You,” an uplifting song to bring calm during these challenging times in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
The single arrives ahead of her upcoming as-of-yet untitled album. In a new interview, Ledisi revealed that she was inspired to write a song following the death of a close friend’s father.
“I was sitting on it for a long time in August, and I came back to it. One day, I was talking to Rex [Rideout] and his family after his father passed away. We were talking about how the love of family never goes away,” she shared with Rolling Out. “Afterward, I went right to my room and after an hour-and-a-half, there was a song inspired by a conversation.”
Though we are facing scary days amid the crisis, the New Orleans-born artist released “Anything For You” to encourage us all to stay strong and remain hopeful that better days are soon ahead. While the four-minute track wasn’t written about the coronavirus specifically, the powerful devotional serves as a timely reminder that love far outweighs the darkness.
“Anything, ask me, I'll do anything / Anything for you / You are my relief / You're my peace of mind,” she soulfully croons in the chorus. “When everything is wrong / You're right / Oh, you give me peace of mind, my everything.”
