Ted Williams Headed to Rehab
With the weight of becoming an Internet celebrity, it was bound to happen. Just a week after causing a sensation on the Web, Ted Williams, the former homeless man with the golden voice, will enter rehab. According to the USA Today, it was a decision made following a taping of Dr. Phil, announced on the show Wednesday.
Although Williams claimed that he’d been sober from alcohol and drugs for about two years, he admitted to the TV psychologist during a one-on-one interview that he’d actually been drinking daily. The strange behavior Williams exhibited because of his relapse resulted in a physical altercation with one of his daughters at a Hollywood hotel. Williams’s ex-wife and five family members also appear on the show, which airs today, to discuss the incident, which resulted in Williams being detained by police and later released.
"If Ted is ever going to get better, he's got to be honest with himself and admit he's addicted to drugs and alcohol," said Dr. Phil. "I've told him it's not going to be easy and it's going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction."
