Trae Tha Truth Helped Houston Weather Their Greatest Storm
After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, many citizens of New Orleans sought refuge in Houston, Texas. Over a decade later, they came to relive that horror as Hurricane Harvey flooded their sanctuary city, causing billions in damage with dozens dead.
In the wake of this tragedy, proud Houston native Trae Tha Truth took it upon himself to facilitate the aid and security of the people of his hometown. Not only did he physically rescue his fellow Houstonians in trucks and boats, he raised more than $200,000 through his “We Are One” relief fund, created in conjunction with Angel By Nature. All proceeds went toward helping rebuild the lives of the people of Houston. It is due to this selfless act of fortitude that we choose to honor Trae The Truth in our annual Black History Month celebration, “The Great 28.”
