Pharrell Helps Daft Punk "Get Lucky"

The groovy new dance collaboration stirs chatter on the Internet.

Last week at the Coachella music festival, Daft Punk fans were treated to a surprise teaser video to whet their appetite, and today the duo released their new single, "Get Lucky."

So far the single, which features multi-genre super producer Pharrell Williams, has faired pretty well on iTunes since its release at midnight. It currently tops iTunes charts in the UK and France. It's No. 3 in the U.S. and generating much conversation on social media. "Get Lucky" was leaked in its entirety earlier this week but, unlike most cases, the leak appeared to help the track, which has already found its way to radio airwaves and music websites nationwide.

In an interview posted earlier this week on MTV.com, Pharrell described how "Get Lucky" was a dream come true. The Neptunes producer remembers meeting the robotic duo for the first time at a Madonna party, where he told them he wanted to be on their new album, regardless of how large or small his role.

"If you just want me to play a tambourine, I'll do it," recalled the N.E.R.D. hitmaker, who went on to talk about his experience in Paris where he hit the studio with the group whose music can best be described as interplanetary. "It's crazy, because, you know, [we're] on two sides of the Atlantic [and] we're in the same place," lamented Williams.

The full-length album, titled Random Access Memories, is slated for a May 21 release and will also feature collabos with Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, DJ Falcon and Julian Casablancas.

DP fans and hip hop fans alike are in for a treat as the French duo has confirmed to Rolling Stone that they have, in fact, been working with Kanye West on tracks that are said to be for Yeezy's sixth studio album, which is scheduled to come out later this year.

"It was very raw: he was rapping – kind of screaming primally, actually," Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter told Rolling Stone. His partner, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, added, "Kanye doesn't give a f--k. He's a good friend."
