Azealia Banks Drops New Song, 'Heavy Metal and Reflective'
It looks like Azealia Banks may be closer to releasing her highly-anticipated album, Broke With Expensive Taste. Since departing from Universal in July, Yung Rapunxel is back with a new track.
“Heavy Metal and Reflective,” produced by Banks's reoccurring collaborator Lil Internet, is another high energy, boastful song in which Azealia struts her stuff while reminding you that competitors have nothing on her. “I be P.Y.T./You Billie Jean/You been an ex, b---h,” Azealia raps over a synthesized loopy beat.
Although fans are surely happy to hear new material from Banks, the song actually leaked stateside, it was originally only available on iTunes in New Zealand and slated for worldwide release on July 29, according to NME. But according to Banks’s Twitter, thanks to popular demand, the song is available everywhere.
Azealia seems happy to share her music. She tweeted on Sunday (July 27): “This is only the beginning of the "BROKE WITH EXPENSIVE TASTE" ERA!!!!!!!!!! #HEAVYMETALANDREFLECTIVE.” The song comes a few weeks after Azealia, who is known for her Twitter outbursts, announced via the social media platform she was “about to get out” of her deal with Universal after two years and no album release.
Broke With Expensive Taste was supposed to be released in March 2014, but was pushed back numerous times since she dropped the alleged first single "212" in 2011. No word on an official release date, but fans can remain hopeful with Miss Banks's latest track.
