The Internet Is Really Putting the Pressure on Nicki Minaj
In ordinary rap beef fashion, fans were beyond certain that Remy Ma’s ravaging “shETHER” diss track aimed sharply at Nicki Minaj on Saturday (Feb. 25) would warrant a fierce, and timely, response from the Queens-bred femcee.
Both her widespread Barbz squad as well as the opposition handed Ms. Minaj a clapback due date of 48 hours, confident that her fiery rap persona simply wouldn’t stand for such bold dishonor to her rap throne. But now that the she’s boasting rather nonchalant reception to the uproar via sexy photos and video clips from an upcoming shoot, with Future also in tow, the internet is becoming increasingly impatient.
Posting snippets and ravishing flicks of her behind-the-scenes footage from an upcoming video shoot with the Atlanta trap music star to her Instagram, it’s just not like Nicki to tolerate such provocation and remain mum. Not to mention that K-Mart inconveniently dealt her another blow when the retail conglomerate announced the discontinuation of her clothing line the same day as the diss track's release. Aside from her initial glare at Trey Songz for his response, or lack thereof, to Remy’s claim that he and Nicki had slept together before, a post of her chart status compared to Rem’s and a “rap queen” cosign from Beyoncé, Nicki was essentially MIA from the beef mayhem. The best guesses as to why she's silent? The Instagram activity is merely a distraction, a red herring of sorts, while she plans for the real retaliation outside of the public eye. Otherwise, the Young Money femcee is proudly exhibiting that the shots fired from Rem didn’t cause as much damage as everyone thinks.
But as Remy's Barbie-slaying diss record inches its way up the U.S. iTunes chart, the internet wants Nicki to know that she’s racing against the clock. And unfortunately, time seems to be working against her this go 'round.
From studio time demands to penning their own diss tracks back to Remy in the name of Nicki, here are the internet's calls to action for a Remy Ma diss track:
