Kendrick Lamar Disses Meek Mill During NYC Show
For the hip hop fans clamoring to see more competition in the genre, well, here you have it. A battle is brewing between two of the game's brightest young stars and it all played out in Brooklyn, NY on Tuesday night [Sept. 10].
During a performance at Williamsburg Park in Brooklyn, Kendrick Lamar threw some direct and indirect shots at Meek Mill, who recently released a scathing response ("Ooh Kill 'Em") to Lamar's controversial "Control" verse.
According to AllHipHop.com, the Compton MC, who was back performing in New York after upsetting some natives by proclaiming himself king of the city, took some time during his set to address the Maybach Music Group rapper. K. Dot referenced Meek's single "Levels" to get his point across.
"I been doing this s--t for years, I mastered this s--t," said Lamar. "I have no time for irrelevant n-----s [or] new n----s."
If those words were lost on anyone, the "Swimming Pools" rapper issued a more direct message.
"There's one n---a in particular that needs to realize that there's 'levels' to this s--t. I'm motherf--king King Kendrick."
Word didn't take long to get to Meek, who is currently in New York promoting the upcoming MMG album, Self Made 3. The Philly rapper quickly responded via Twitter.
"King of what?" one tweet asked. "Somebody please tell me."
Now that the competitive juices are boiling up in this rivalry, we'll keep a close eye on what comes next. Stay tuned.
