18-Month-Old Allegedly Stabbed to Death by Grandmother in Horrible Crime
Police have captured and detained a grandmother who allegedly fatally stabbed her 18-month-old granddaughter and wounded her daughter and grandchild Monday in California, reported the Los Angeles Times.
Nicole Darrington Clark was apprehended on Tuesday morning after evading police after the stabbing on Monday.
Police reported Darrington Clark stabbed her daughter and grandchildren on Monday morning in the family’s apartment in Colton.
The daughter told authorities that her mother had stabbed her and the grandchildren.
According to Colton Police Cpl. Raymond Mendez, officers arrived to find the youngest grandchild dead as a result of her injuries. The others were taken to the hospital for treatment.
“We don’t know what triggered this event,” Mendez told the LA Times. “We don’t have a motive.”
Before police arrived on the scene, Darrington Clark fled.
In 2005, Darrington Clark pleaded guilty to stabbing her son and throwing her daughter out of a moving van on the freeway. However, a California judged ruled Darrington Clark was not guilty by reason of insanity, the Pasadena Star-News reported in 2007.
Darrington Clark was sent to a state mental hospital for 34 years to life, yet she was released for unknown reasons.
