  • Rick Ross

    Miami’s own Rick Ross made his debut at the BET Awards 2011 with a fiery performance of his smash hit, “Aston Martin.” The emcee also earned a nomination for “Best Male Hip Hop Artist.”

  • Outkast

    Outkast's first-ever BET Awards  2001 performance was a game-changing moment in hip-hop history. Performing their hit "So Fresh and So Clean"  the duo’s electrifying energy and unique style captivated the audience, showcasing their innovative approach to music and solidifying their status as trailblazers in the industry.  That same year, they took home their major award for the Best Male Group and later for “Video of the Year” for "Ms. Jackson."

  • Lil Kim

    Rap legend Lil Kim made her debut appearance and subsequent performance of her hit single, “Jump Off” and “Magic Stick” at the third annual BET Awards.

  • 50 Cent

    Rapper 50 Cent performed a medley of his hit singles, including "P.I.M.P." and "Gangsta" with the late Nate Dogg in his first-ever BET Awards appearance in 2003. Later that evening the Jamaica Queens native went on to take home two awards that night including Best Male Hip Hop and Best New Artist.

  • Bow Wow

    Bow Wow made his debut BET Awards appearance in 2001, performing his hit single, "Yippie Yo Yippie Ya.” That same year, the break-out star took home the “Viewers Choice Award,” marking his first-ever BET Awards accolade.

    The BET Awards 2023 premieres Sunday, June 25 at 8 pm ET/PT on BET and BET Her.
