Cee Lo Green Cleared of Sexual Assault
Even when evidence is recorded, it's up for interpretation. The L.A. County District Attorney recently decided that a recording of Cee Lo Green, furnished by a woman who accused him of slipping something in her drink and sexually assaulting her, only proved that Green used ecstasy himself, not that he used it for date rape, reports TMZ.
Green will be cleared of the assault, the D.A. says, and charged with felony possession of narcotics.
The accusation was launched in 2012, along with an investigation, when the unnamed woman filed a complaint several months after the alleged incident, claiming that she was at a sushi restaurant with Green when he, without her consent, put the hallucinogenic "love drug" in her beverage. She told authorities that she blacked out and woke up naked in a bed with him.
Although she provided authorities with a recording of Green talking about the incident, the D.A. ruled that it was insufficient evidence. On it, Green admits to taking ecstasy, but not the assault. Law enforcement sources told the site that the woman's relationship history with the "F**k You" singer — they reportedly dated for months and had been intimate prior to the time in question — also blurred the lines in building a case against him.
Green has vehemently denied the assault from the onset, telling TMZ, "Nothing ever happened there [at the restaurant] or anywhere else."
He may face probation for the drug charge.
