Chris Brown may have a surprising key witness when he faces a misdemeanor assault charge in D.C. on Nov. 25.

According to TMZ, one of the president's Secret Service agents overheard a witness tell police that the alleged victim said Brown never hit him.

That testimony could cast all kinds of doubt about the alleged victim's credibility. But the alleged victim is not backing down: He maintains that he was assaulted by Brown and never said any such thing, reports NBC4.

Brown was arrested Sunday (Oct. 27) outside of the W Hotel in Washington, D.C. He's accused of assaulting a man who was reportedly trying to board his tour bus and could face up to 180 days in jail if convicted, plus four years for probation violation.

His uncle, Kevin Brown, came to his defense outside of his hearing at D.C. Superior Court the next day. "I think people target him to get him into trouble," he said.

His lawyer, Danny Onorato insists he "committed no crime."

Brown is on probation for his infamous 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna. Sources from his camp say he entered rehab this week for anger management and is willing to stay up to three months (except to come out for his court date, of course).

His album X is due in stores Nov. 19.
