Lil Wayne Announces ‘Tha Carter VI’ Album Ahead of Super Bowl LIX
Lil Wayne revealed some big news that longtime fans have been anticipating.
The rapper appears in a new Cetaphil campaign, and in a new ad spot for the facial product brand, there are multiple easter eggs of the 6/6 date. The commercial even concludes with a message that reads, “Do Not Disturb ‘Til 6-6-25 Carter VI.’
If it wasn’t obvious enough, Weezy’s fourteenth album, “Tha Carter VI,” will drop on June 6th, just five years after his last album, “Funeral.” The Cetaphil partnership also comes just months after the 5-time Grammy winner expressed his disappointment with not being chosen as headliner for the Super Bowl LXI Apple Music Halftime Show. Instead, Kendrick Lamar and special guest SZA will perform at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome on Sunday, February 9.
“What attracted me to this project was the chance to flip the script,” Wayne told “Rolling Stone.” “Showing a sensitive side isn’t a weakness—it’s a power. There’s nothing more real than turning those types of moments into a display of strength.”
He continued, “This campaign made perfect sense to me. The world knew I was disappointed, but what they didn’t know was that it made me determined to deliver something way bigger.”
In December, the NOLA native told Skip Bayless after the Super Bowl LXI halftime decision was made, he’d spoken to Kendrick over the phone and wished him “all the best.” However, Wayne will not be attending the game.
