Jrue Holiday Celebrates Daughter's Birthday A Year After Wife Lauren Had Brain Tumor Removal Surgery
Jrue Holiday and his wife, Lauren, each took to their respective Instagram account Wednesday to celebrate their daughter, Jrue, turning one. And it was a first birthday to remember, considering the painful ordeal the New Orleans Pelicans' guard and his 2015 World Cup-winning U.S. women's national soccer team star wife endured last year around this time.
Lauren was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor when she was five months pregnant with baby Jrue last June. Although Lauren was due in October, doctors had to induce her labor in September. She then underwent successful surgery to remove the tumor in October at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina.
After missing the Pelicans' first 12 games of the season due to helping his wife recover from her surgery, Holiday made a triumphant return to the court in November. Then this past May, Lauren shared her first post-pregnancy surgery selfie in an emotional IG shot.
The Holidays stuck together and persevered through it all, making adorable baby Jrue's first birthday celebration all the more special.
Just look how Lauren and Jrue each gushed about their daughter on the 'Gram.
We love Lauren saying, "I've never known a love like I know now," and Jrue adding, "to think that last year was the scariest, most stressful time of my life and a year later My [heart] + [world] are healthy and happy!!"
This is one blessed family. Not only are the Holidays in good health — most importantly — but Jrue inked a five-year, $126 million extension with the Pelicans this past July. Congrats to the Holidays on all their blessings. And good luck to Jrue and the Pelicans during this upcoming 2017-18 NBA season.
