Kodak Black Was Released From Jail in Florida, But Isn't a Free Man Yet

The "No Flockin" rapper might be looking at 30 years.

News of Florida rap newcomer Kodak Black’s release from prison is bittersweet, since he’s finally out of St. Lucie County’s hair.

However, a newfound sexual assault charge has given more bitterness to the skimpy taste of freedom now that he is being extradited to a South Carolina jail immediately after, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, was accused of sexual battery regarding a February incident in which very little detail has been released, including the name of the victim.

"According to investigators, on or about February 7, 2016, Octave is alleged to have engaged in the sexual battery of the victim at a hotel located at 2120 West Lucas Street, Florence, SC," said Major Michael M. Nunn, spokesman for the Florence County Sheriff's Office, in August.

According to the Sun, a criminal sexual charge has weight of up to 30 years if convicted. The state also has numerous considerations for sexual assault, including forcing a victim into sexual intercourse while he or she is under the influence of a controlled substance. However, Black’s lawyers are already confident that his name will be cleared.

“We are firmly convinced that he will be vindicated in that charge and shortly be set free," said one of his attornies, Gary Kollin. "He's looking forward to getting to South Carolina so he can go on with his life and career.”
