H.E.R. to Perform U.S. National Anthem at Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony will take place on Sunday as part of the hand-off to the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

H.E.R. will be performing the U.S. national anthem at the 2024 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in Paris on Sunday (Aug. 11) as part of the hand-off to the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The closing ceremony will occur at the Stade de France, the country’s national stadium, where rugby sevens and track and field events have been hosted.

According to Variety, the five-time Grammy Award-winning artist will join iconic French bands Phoenix and Air, who are also set to participate in the ceremony. “Today, where we look at the history of music, it’s certainly the French music style and the artists behind it, who have had the biggest resonance in the world. So it was important for us to acknowledge it,” the event’s executive director, Thierry Reboul, told the outlet.

Paris Olympics artistic director Thomas Jolly, the mastermind behind Celine Dion’s emotional return to the stage, will lead the performances and choreography.

This isn’t the first huge event H.E.R. was a part of. Earlier this year, the Vallejo native made a surprise cameo during Usher’s iconic Super Bowl Half-Time Show
