Drake Is Leading the Pack for the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards
It’s no surprise that Drake would be nominated for BET Hip-Hop Awards, but how many is actually pretty impressive.
For the third consecutive year, the Toronto native leads the potential honors list with 14 nominations, including ones for Album of the Year, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video and three in the Best Collaboration, Duo or Group category.
Future received 10 nods while his “I Got the Keys” songmate, DJ Khaled, touts nine. They’re followed by Kanye West, who received eight nominations.
Best New Hip-Hop Artist, which is slated to be one of the more interesting contests, features a slew of different types of artists including Anderson .Paak, Bryson Tiller (who won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the BET Awards in June), Chance the Rapper, Torey Lanez and Desiigner.
Catch the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards premiere on October 4 at 8 p.m. EST. The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta will be where it all goes down with a host who we have yet to reveal. Check out a complete list of this year’s nominees here.
