True or Nah? Beyoncé's Diva Demands Got Her Dropped From a Movie
Looks like Beyoncé's bid for an Oscar isn't quite going as planned. The pop icon had to back away from a rumored Hottentot Venus biopic after swift backlash from those who felt she isn't suited for the role, and now a new rumor is circulating that her long-planned leading role in a remake of A Star Is Born is permanently on ice thanks to her diva demands.
According to Page Six, the Bradley Cooper-directed film, about a young woman whose dreams of stardom are helped by an aging icon, can't move forward with Bey in the lead because it can't afford her.
“Beyoncé wanted too much money, and Warner Bros. balked at her price. The production budget was also said to be an issue with the studio, so the project has fallen apart,” a source says. Another adds, “Bradley has started reading scripts for his next acting project. But the Star Is Born project remains in development and Bradley is still involved.”
Sadly, it doesn't sound like it will move forward with Bey. The pop icon has been attached to the film since at least 2011, when Clint Eastwood was on board to direct, but the project reportedly got delayed when Bey got pregnant with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
It's also just as likely that Bey wants out of the project to focus on her upcoming Formation tour, work on a new album or find some fresh material for her Hollywood return. In any case, we won't hold our breath for this one.
