A$AP Rocky Defends His Right To Love Nail Art And Encourages Other Men To Do The Same
For decades, WOC have used their nails as an artistic way to further express their personal style. Now, taking cues from their female counterparts, men are divorcing the idea that nail art is feminine and openly voicing their desire to have a seat at the nail salon.
“I feel like men should be able to do nail art without feeling feminine,” A$AP Rocky told Vogue during a recent interview.
Known for modeling in major Calvin Klein and Prada campaigns, the 30-year-old rapper has been very open about his love for setting trends, as well as synchronizing his bold manicures with his music.
While proudly showing off his nails featuring Prada motifs, Rocky added, “This lady who is really, really good drew Prada on my nails when I was shooting my Prada collaboration. She did my nails for the photos.”
When asked if dressing beautifully can compromise masculinity, he replied, “I don’t think so. I don’t think it compromises mine at all. I mean I could have been a gangster. But I’m a pretty boy! And if you ain’t got it, make it!”
For those who may not be aware, the self-proclaimed “pretty boy” joins rapper Ty Dolla $ign and Love & Hip Hop star A1 Bentley, who has been perfectly candid about their love for freshly done nails.
