'GMA3' Hosts T.J. Holmes And Amy Robach Yanked Off Air Amid Affair Allegations
The alleged infidelity scandal that has rocked the internet and Good Morning America appears to have some fallout.
Although GMA3 hosts T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach appeared on Friday after their alleged affair came to light, TMZ reported that the bigwigs at ABC have decided to take the duo off the show. The decision, apparently, didn’t come easy, but ABC News President Kim Godwin decided that shelving Holmes and Robach– one week after the scandal broke– was the right decision because the salacious tryst was an “ internal and external distraction.”
Godwin also stated that the hosts didn’t actually violate any company policy.
“I want to say that while that relationship is not a violation of company policy, I have really taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization. This is something I'm not going to talk about. We're not going to talk about on this call until there is more to be said. I'm asking that we stop the whispering in the hallways. You know, we can't operate with gossip, and speculation and rumors. We need to stay focused on the work."
She concluded, "If you think there is something that management needs to know, you can always call HR or, as we've said, talk to a manager that you trust. If you think there is something that we need to know."
Holmes and Robach made light of the alleged scandalous affair while on the air. He joked that he wanted to keep the week going, while she said that she anticipated the weekend.
Earlier this week,BET.com reported that Black Twitter was in shambles after discovering Holmes’ government name. On November 30, “Loutelious,” Holmes’ given name, trended on the social media platform as rumors of the affair made their way to the internet.
According to TMZ, Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez replaced the pair as hosts when GMA3 aired on Monday. It’s not been confirmed if the two will permanently replace Holmes and Robach.
