Report: Rihanna Leaves Def Jam for Roc Nation
It seems Rihanna's making moves to gear up for her next album. According to Complex, Rih made the jump from her label home of the last nine years, Def Jam, and is now firmly planted on the Roc Nation roster.
However, Billboard reports that the Def Jam relationship isn't exactly over. The label is still in line to distribute her upcoming eighth studio album and met with her last week to discuss plans for the release. No official announcement has been made from either side, but the Bajan beauty's profile has been added to the RN artists page, where she will stand as the lead name on the roster. Other details will be released "soon," a source told Billboard.
Jay Z signed Rih Rih to her Def Jam deal in 2005, so completely aligning her with the Roc Nation marks a full circle move for the two. She is now among the likes of fellow Roc Nation artists J. Cole, DJ Mustard, Jay Electronica and Rita Ora.
Although she's usually very vocal on social media, the "Stay" singer hasn't spoken up about the label situation. The only Roc Nation-related business that the 26-year-old publicized recently was a tweet welcoming University of Kentucky shooting guard James Young to Roc Nation Sports.
Aside from the new label digs, Rihanna has another career achievement to celebrate. She landed one of Ebony magazine's four Black Music Month covers, along with Beyoncé, Jay and Kanye West.
