Reynaldo Rey, a veteran character actor best recognized for his roles in Friday and White Men Can't Jump, has died, TMZ reports. Rey passed away after suffering complications from a stroke, his rep confirms. He was 75.
The actor and comedian appeared in over 50 films and dozens of television shows during his three decades in showbiz. On the small screen, he guest starred on 227, The Parent 'Hood, Sister, Sister and many other series. His recent credits include the comedies Pawn Shop (2012) and First Sunday (2008).
Born in Sequoyah County, Okla,, Rey also had a long career as a stand-up comedian. He opened for Red Foxx for 18 years and was managed by Foxx for 12 of those years. Rey even co-hosted BET's Comic View from 1998 until 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Reynolds. Our condolences go out to his family and fans.
