The Supremes, Slick Rick, Nile Rodgers, Nancy Wilson To Receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards
The Supremes, Slick Rick, Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson and Nile Rodgers are among those who will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Recording Academy’s Special Merit Awards ceremony on February 4.
Held at Los Angeles’ Wilshire Ebell Theatre a day before the Grammys are handed out at Crypto.com Arena, the event will also honor Nirvana, Bobby McFerrin and Ma Rainey with Lifetime Achievement awards. Additionally, iconic rock photographer Henry Diltz, legendary jazz musician, and educator Ellis Marsalis, and Stax Records founder Jim Stewart will receive the Trustees Award, presented to “individuals who, during their careers in music, have made significant contributions, other than performance, to the field of recording,” according to SPIN.

Auto-Tune inventor Dr. Andy Hildebrand and the Audio Engineering Society will be given Technical Grammy Awards. An honoree for Best Song for Social Change will also be announced in the coming weeks.
Broadcast on CBS, the 2023 Grammys are led by nominees Beyoncé (nine), Kendrick Lamar (eight), Adele (seven), and Brandi Carlile (seven). The other top nominees include Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled, Future, Terius “The-Dream” Gesteelde-Diamant, Randy Merrill. and Harry Styles, who each earned six.
