Jay Z Calls In to Angie Martinez's First Show on Power 105
As Angie Martinez begins a new chapter in her radio career with Power 105.1, she can depend on Jay Z to support her through the transition. In fact, Jigga Man already has some predictions about Martinez's new job, which he shared when calling in to her first Power 105 show yesterday (July 17).
"I really believe that what you are about to accomplish in the next phase of your life will dwarf everything that you've ever done," he told her, "because that's what people who are great do. You're not termed 'The Voice of New York' for no reason. You're an institution in radio, and that's a pretty special feat to accomplish."
Martinez made it through the entire show without shedding a tear, but Jay brought her pretty close to waterworks, she said. "Your son is somewhere home, he's so proud of you," added Hov.
For the better half of the last 15 years, the Puerto Rican stunner held down her own afternoon show on Hot 97. She abruptly left the station last month to hop over to rival Power 105 for a reported six-figure salary.
Wrapping up her first day on Power 105, the radio star congratulated herself on making "minimal mistakes."
