O.J. Simpson Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer
Pro football Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, local Florida station WPLG reports.
According to sources close to the situation, Simpson, 76, is currently undergoing chemotherapy in Las Vegas.
While rumors have been circulating that the former Buffalo Bills star was in hospice care, Simpson took to X (formerly Twitter) to give an update on his health status.
“Hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice? No, I'm not in any hospice, I don't know who put that out there," Simpson said, adding that he was "hosting a ton of friends for the Super Bowl here in Las Vegas."
Considered one the greatest running backs of all time, Simpson came to national prominence when he won the Heisman Trophy as a member of the University of Southern California Trojans in 1968.
After being drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 1969, he became the first running back to gain 2,000 yards in a season in 1973. By the time he retired in 1979, he had amassed 11,236 rushing yards which was good for number two at the time.
Following his playing career, Simsoon was a pitchman for Hertz Rental cars, an NFL football analyst, and acted in several films.
In 1994, Simpson was charged with the murder of his ex-wife Nichole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman. Eventually, Simpson was acquitted of both counts of murder in what was described as “the trial of the century.”
In 2008, Simpson was convicted and sentenced to 33 years' imprisonment, with a minimum of nine years without parole for armed robbery and kidnapping. He was granted parole in 2017 and was released on October 1, 2017.
Recently, Simpson has been a regular guest on the 'It Is What It Is' a popular sports podcast hosted by Cam'ron, Mase, and co-host Treasure Wilson.
