[Watch] Gunman Caught Red-handed When Cop Pulls Up Next to Cab Driver He’s Robbing
A Pennsylvania teenager had high hopes of getting away with some extra cash after robbing the driver of the taxi he was in.
But 18-year-old Victor Martinez-Herrera never got a chance to complete his mission, because a police cruiser just so happened to pull up behind the cab mid-robbery.
Deputy Sheriff Terry Ely noticed that cab was stopped at a green light and put on his emergency lights just as Martinez-Herrera was grabbing the money from taxi driver Ralph Valletta.
"Right when I hit the door, I heard the driver say, 'Please don’t shoot me,' and 'He has a gun to my head,’” Ely told the Reading Eagle.
“I immediately bent down and pulled my firearm out because I noticed he had a hood over his face when he looked over at me.” He continued, “I noticed the money in his hand and a black object in his right hand, and I started ordering him to drop the gun and get out of the car.”
Martinez-Herrera was pretending his Ruger pellet gun was a real firearm and now faces charges of robbery, terroristic threats, and a weapon’s offense. He refused $100,000 bail and was sent to Berks County Prison.
