N.W.A is officially on the the voting ballot for the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Rolling Stone reports. The World’s Most Dangerous Group is among over a dozen groups and solo artists nominated including Green Day, War, Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, The Marvelettes, Lou Reed and Bill Withers.

The 2015 Hall of Fame nominees will be trimmed down to the Top 5, to be chosen by fan votes. For the third consecutive year, fans will vote alongside music industry professionals to name next year's inductees. Voting ends Dec. 9.

To qualify for the Hall of Fame, artists must have put out an album or single in or before 1989. N.W.A., which featured Ice Cube, DJ Yella, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E and MC Ren, was previously nominated in 2013. The Compton rap collective released their first single, “Panic Zone,” in 1988. It wasn’t until the next year that “Straight Outta Compton” — the lead single from their groundbreaking debut of the same name — came out. N.W.A. would later become famous for ushering in West Coast gangster rap at a time when hip hop was dominated by the East Coast. 

By the early ‘90s N.W.A had dismantled, with members Cube and Dre finding major success in respective solo lanes. Eazy-E died from pneumonia brought on by complications of AIDS in 1995.
