Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is on the Money as Sports Agent in Ballers
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has flawlessly segued his pro wrestling career into being a Hollywood mega star.
Forbes named him the top-grossing actor of 2013 with his films raking in $1.3 billion worldwide. As of last week, his latest movie, San Andreas, cracked $100 million domestically and has grossed over $300 million in the box office worldwide. It was No. 1 in theaters, before being replaced by Jurassic World.
With Johnson being a bona fide movie star, it's his new role as Spencer Strassmore, a retired NFL player-turned-sports agent on the new HBO series, Ballers that might throw people for a loop. However, after watching a preview of it, he steals the show with his charisma.
Strassmore is seen as the big brother and protector of his clients, but he also has his own issues to work through. He has to prove himself in the sports agency ranks, he is having financial issues and suffers from chronic headaches due to his days as a player.
We won't give too much away, but if you're a fan of Dwayne Johnson, football and you wouldn't mind a cameo by New York Giants star Victor Cruz, then you'should probably watch Ballers.
The new series debuts on HBO this Sunday at 10:00 p.m. ET.
