Game and Dej Loaf Set It Off in New Music Video
Los Angeles, lowriders and a Brink's truck build the story for Game’s “Ambitionz of a Rida” music video featuring Dej Loaf.
BET.com hit up the set for a behind-the-scenes look at the visual, helmed by Benny Boom, to talk with the Compton rapper about the video concept and working with Detroit's latest rap sensation.
In the video, Dej and Game conspire to rob a Brink's truck. To create the story, Boom took inspiration from some classic dynamic duo heist flicks, but added an “L.A. vibe” to the recipe. “It’s a little bit of Dead Presidents meets Heat meets Bonnie & Clyde," he says.

Dej, who plays the proverbial Bonnie to Game's Clyde, garnered praise from the acclaimed director. Even if she is a newcomer, the petite rhymer holds her own. "She's new but she's good," adds Boom. "I'm looking like, 'Wow this girl is confident and she can spit!' I'm always excited about a new artist."
Game also broke down how he feels about the "Try Me" spitter and why he chose her for the record. “Every now and then in music and in hip hop, you get somebody that’s like a breath of fresh air,” he says. "Dej is the homie."
The 35-year-old MC may have retooled a Tupac classic and commissioned Dej as his lyrical counterpart, but for the music video he hopped out of the driver’s seat. In fact, he makes it a point not to read the treatments for his music videos, period. “I just pick the director that I’m comfortable with."
